Аннотация:
Introduction: Synthetic cannabinoids (SC) now are the most common drugs of abuse. Scientific descriptions of withdrawal syndrome induced by their consumption, are scarce and fragmentary. The purpose of this study is to examine withdrawal syndrome in question. Materials and methods: Patients were recruited for the study with the help of topical e-consulting website www.narkonet.ru. Preliminary understanding of the structure and dynamics of the syndrome have been obtained on the basis of the study of information requests of Internet users with SC experience., The criteria of cannabis withdrawal syndrome developed for DSM-V were used as a diagnostic tool. To verify the fact of prolonged drug use and to confirm the psychoactive substance used, chemical-toxicological study of hair and urine samples was conducted. Results: All of the surveyed patients had withdrawal symptoms, the duration of which varied from 2 to 4 weeks. As a result, chemical and toxicological studies in biological media detected SC metabolites. Conclusions: As a result of systematic SC smoking a dependency syndrome is quickly formed. Withdrawal symptoms observed upon the termination of drug use fit into the diagnostic criteria for DSM-V, corresponding to cannabis withdrawal syndrome.
