Perception of the disease and treatment methods by patients with alcohol dependence and their relatives

This research was conducted by Ipsos Russia company, division of Ipsos Healthcare, which specializes in market analysis of medical services, pharmaceutical agents and other healthcare products. Ipsos Russia is the leading market research company in Russia. The research is targeted at analyzing market potential and tendencies, advertisement and product testing, and strategy development for building customer loyalty. Ipsos Russia is part of the International Ipsos Company Group, that holds a third place in the amount of market research projects worldwide. The goal of this study was to investigate perception of the disease, and the treatment options by patients with alcohol dependence and their relatives. The study also evaluated the level of relative's participation in treatment process, and the level of satisfaction with various treatment options, including the analysis of factors that build treatment satisfaction. The study included patients with alcohol dependence and their relatives. The project consisted of two stages: qualitive and quantitive. The qualitive stage included 24 1 hour deep interviews (12 with patients, and 12 with relatives). The interviews were completed in November 2013, and included participants from 3 cities: Moscow, Samara, and Novosibirsk. The quantitive stage starged in December 2013, and finished in Febuary 2014. This stae included 255 patients and 256 relatives from 8 cities: Moscow, Saint-Petersburgh, Ekateringurgh, Nizhniy Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Rostov-na-Donu, Samara, Chelyabinsk
