The influence of two alcoholic tonic beverages and a solution containing 7% alcohol + 10% sugar on DNA synthesis in cultures of blood lymphocytes of healthy individuals in vitro

A direct influence of a wide range of dosages of two alcoholic tonic beverages ("energy" drinks) and a solution containing 7% ethanol + 10% sugar on DNA synthesis in cultures of blood lymphocytes of healthy individuals was investigated in vitro. It was established that the alcoholic tonic beverages at doses of 6 х 10-5 – 9 х 10-3 mg /ml lead to cytolysis of immunocompetent cells in vitro. A reduction in DNA synthesis in PHA-induced immune cells at low doses of these beverages (1,2 х 10-3 – 3 х 10-3 mg ml) capable of inducing mild to moderate alcohol intoxication was observed, which could cause a reduction of immunoreactivity and lead to immunodeficiency
