The review provides information on the history, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, gender and place in the classification of sexual addiction (SA). The cases of the SA implementation over the Internet a described. The results of studies confirming the common neurobiological basis of SA and substance dependence are shown. Particular attention is given to the serial sexual murderers. Despite the lack of reliable, placebo-controlled, double-blind studies focused on the treatment of SA of individual works on this issue are analyzed. The possible approaches to psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy of SA are discussed.
