Аннотация:
Reduced glutathione content, the activity of glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase and catalase in erythrocytes of adolescents admitted to a drug abuse clinic with a diagnosis of "alcohol abuse" were investigated. Statistically significant increase of erythrocyte reduced glutathione within the first three days after acute alcohol intoxication was found. The activity of erythrocyte glutathione reductase not changed, and glutathione peroxidase significantly decreased during the first 5-10 days of treatment in hospital. Increased activity of superoxide dismutase and catalase was maintained throughout the observation period compared to adolescents control group. Positive correlation between reduced glutathione level and superoxide dismutase activity in the 1st and 10th day of treatment when the absence of relationship between these indices in the control group was revealed. The data obtained justify the need for more long-term antioxidant therapy.
