Аннотация:
The article considers the possibility of using media materials as a prevalence indicator for certain types of drugs. The object of the study were news on desomorphine. For years it had been one of the most widespread and cheapest drugs in Russia. It is presumed that after a short period of rapid development its consumption has been virtually eliminated by introducing prescriptions for codeine-containing drugs. The study was conducted on the basis of news databases of the Internet portal "Net – narkotikam" (www.narkotiki.ru). An analysis of the 1706 news items leads to the conclusion about the possibility of the use of media material to assess the drug situation in the country in conjunction with other indicators, but not as a stand-alone tool.
