Introduction. Synthetic cannabinoids (SC) remain the largest group of designer drugs distributed on the illegal market. In the EU countries, the annual increase in the number of newly detected SC is at least 10 substances.
Purpose. Analyze information about synthetic cannabinoids detected in the drug market in recent years.
Methods. The review materials are based on information from available scientific publications, as well as on official documents of The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Results. In recent years, more than 30 new synthetic cannabinoids of various chemical groups have been detected in illegal trafficking. For some drugs, there is information about their biological activity. Fragmentary information about metabolism is available for only a few compounds.
Conclusion. Synthetic cannabinoids continue to be the most numerous group among designer drugs. This is a serious problem for modern narcology.
