Аннотация:
The article discusses the fact of terminological ambiguity of the concept of binge drinking, which currently denotes in the English-language specialized literature two different patterns of alcohol consumption – a prolonged (from two days or more) severe alcoholic excess, interspersed with periods of complete abstinence from alcohol and excessive one-time drinking, predominantly among young people and students. The evolution of the term binge drinking is tracked from the 1950s to the present. Conclusion is made on the necessity to form an adequate thesaurus, reflecting the characteristics of a particular form of alcohol consumption.
