The active introduction of software into the activities of chemical and toxicological laboratories currently allows for quick access to the requested data, which creates prerequisites for the development of new approaches to monitoring the consumption of psychoactive substances.
In this article, the authors describe the Information and analytical system for monitoring the consumption of psychoactive substances developed, which contains both information on the results of chemical and toxicological studies of biological objects coming to the chemical and toxicological laboratory from different administrative districts of Moscow, and statistical data on the number of diseases with drug-related disorders in the administrative districts of Moscow.
The use of such an approach, according to the authors, will allow conducting: detailed descriptive epidemiological studies necessary to determine the population’s need for specialized drug treatment; a comparative assessment of trends in the identification of individual psychoactive substances (their groups, drugs with psychoactive effects, etc.) between different administrative districts of Moscow; comparative analysis of the results of chemical and toxicological studies of biological objects entering the chemical and toxicological laboratory from various medical and non-medical institutions of the administrative district of Moscow, with data on the number of diseases with drug-related disorders depending on the group of psychoactive substances in this administrative district of Moscow.
The above will make it possible to objectify both the actual "picture "of the use of psychoactive substances (or groups of them) in the administrative district of Moscow, and to increase the effectiveness of" testing" the population in the drug treatment dispensary of this administrative district of Moscow by using information about the most frequently detected psychoactive substances (or groups of them), as well as the age and gender characteristics of the owners of biological samples.
