The use of a food supplementation «Glutamine-plus» for nutritional support of patients with moderate alcohol withdrawal syndrome

The aim of study: analysis of the effectiveness of nutritional support with a specialized food product for dietary therapeutic nutrition «Glutamine-plus» for patients with moderate alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Subjects and methods: the study included 80 patients (74 men and 6 women) with alcohol withdrawal syndrome, divided into 2 groups: the main and control. Patients of both groups received standard pharmacotherapy of alcohol withdrawal syndrome in accordance with the actual clinical recommendations. Patients of the main group received the dietary supplement «Glutamine-Plus» 2 sachets per day for 10 days. The patients were observed for 14 days, and then the average values of clinical and laboratory parameters were compared within the groups in dynamics and between groups using nonparametric criteria. Results: The addition of «Glutamine-plus» to the standard diet of patients with uncomplicated alcohol withdrawal syndrome significantly improves their metabolic processes: tissue respiration, hematopoiesis, immunity, has a positive effect on the dynamics of reducing the clinical signs of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and craving to alcohol. At the same time, there was a relative increase in the level of transaminases and a relative slowdown in the reduction of depressive disorders as a part of alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
