Materials on continuous changes in the market of synthetic opioids, the economic foundations of this phenomenon are presented. Currently, synthetic opioids are gradually replacing heroin in the drug market. In illicit trafficking, along with fentanyl derivatives, drugs of other chemical groups appear: N-substituted benzamides and acetylamides, piperazine derivatives, benzimidazole derivatives and others. The main reason for this trend is the low price, ease of their synthesis and transportation, availability of precursors. Against this background, there is a continuous increase in cases of overdoses, including fatal ones.
