Аннотация:
Aim: to estimate the price elasticity of different alcoholic beverages in Russia and Belarus in the post soviet period. Methods. A comparative analysis of the economic availability of different alcoholic beverages and the level of their sale in Russia and Belarus was conducted. Results. In Russia and Belarus the level of vodka sale did not correlate with the level of its economic availability. At the same time, demand on wine and beer is elastic in relation to price in both countries. The increase in the economic availability of wine by 1% is associated with the increase in the level of it’s consumption in Russia and Belarus correspondingly by 0,34% and 0,55%. The increase in the economic availability of beer by 1% is associated with the increase in the level of it’s consumption in Russia and Belarus correspondingly by 0,65% and 0,95%. Conclusion. The decrease in the economic availability of wine and beer can be considered as an effective tool of decrease in consumption of these alcoholic beverages.
